IVAN MORALES SET TO MAKE GBP DEBUT
Ivan Morales, younger brother of Erik and Diego, recently signed a promotional contract with Golden Boy Promotions, and will make his debut on September 8th against former world title challenger Luis Maldonado in a 10 round junior bantamweight bout. The fight is set to take place at the Pechanga Resort & Casino Grand Ballroom in Temecula, California.

FLANNIGAN TO DEFEND ENGLISH TITLE
Super-featherweight prospect Terry Flannigan will defend his English title on September 22nd against Troy James at the Bowler’s Arena in Manchester. A win for either man could put them in line for a British title shot against current champion, Gary Buckland.

ROSE V WEBB POSTPONED – ROSE TO FIGHT HARRIS INSTEAD
British light-middleweight champion Brian Rose was all set to defend his title against mandatory challenger, Sam Webb but that fight has now been postponed. Rose, who will likely fight Webb in December now as opposed to the October 13th date in Liverpool, has a new opponent in former world champion Vivian Harris. It’s a hometown fight for Rose – taking place at the Winter Gardens, Blackpool on October 5th.

FROCH TO ANNOUNCE OPPONENT ON MONDAY
IBF super-middleweight world champion Carl Froch will announce his next opponent live on Sky Sports News on Monday, August 20th. It was thought that Froch would be facing Tommy Oosthuizen in a unification bout, but that fight fell through due to financial reasons. There will be a keen sense of intrigue to see who Carl will share the ring with in November – although one would expect that it won’t be a ‘big name’ opponent given that he has a rematch with Lucian Bute in March next year.

N’DOU WANTS HATTON
Former IBF world junior-welterweight champion Lovemore N’dou has called out Ricky Hatton – should ‘The Hitman’ make a return to the ring. “…Him [Hatton] and I have unfinished business. He chose to relinquish the [IBF world] title instead of fight me,” said N’dou. N’dou has fought Matthew Hatton (Ricky’s brother) before – a closely contested fight which ended in a draw – and has also lost to welterweight prospect, Kell Brook.

SELBY BELIEVES LINDSAY BOUT WILL PREPARE HIM FOR BIGGER FIGHTS
Lee Selby believes that the upcoming defence of his British and Commonwealth featherweight titles against Martin Lindsay will prepare for him the bigger fights in the future. “This latest defence will prepare for me for bigger fights,” Selby said. The fight takes place on September 22nd at the Odyssey Arena in Belfast and features as the chief support for Carl Frampton v Steve Molitor.

DIRRELL BELIEVES WARD FIGHT WILL HAPPEN
Andre Dirrell believes a match-up with Andre Ward will happen in the future. “I definitely want that fight to happen one day. I believe that fight will happen one day and I’m just building up until it does man,” said Dirrell on The Boxing Lab Radio Show.

BUNDRAGE WANTS COTTO
IBF world junior-middleweight champion Cornelius Bundrage, who recently parted ways with his manager and trainer Manny Steward, has said that he would like to face Miguel Cotto in the near future. Bundrage, like Cotto, is a free agent after his promotional contract with Don King ended earlier this year. “I would love to fight Cotto. He is a free agent just like me so a fight between him and me shouldn’t be hard to make. I know he has a date to fight at Madison Square Garden in New York but he can come fight me here for my belt,” Bundrage said to BoxingScene.com.

STEVENSON-GEORGE POSSIBLE FOR OCTOBER 13
The recently postponed IBF super-middleweight title eliminator between Adonis Stevenson and Don George is set to be rescheduled for October 13th in Montreal according to BoxingScene.com. The fight was meant to take place this weekend but was called off due to an injury Stevenson sustained in training.

MARTINEZ VOWS TO KO CHAVEZ JR.
In the build up to his September 15th showdown against Julio Cesar Chavez Jr., Sergio Martinez is focused on getting a knockout victory.  ”I plan to win this fight without the need of the cards, that’s for sure,” Martinez said.

KIKO MARTINEZ TO FIGHT ALEXANDER BAKHTIN NEXT
After pulling out of his voluntary European super-bantamweight title defence against Carl Frampton through injury, the EBU have ordered that once Martinez is fully healed he must face his mandatory challenger – unbeaten Russian Alexander Bakhtin.
