Every day, FightHype UK produces a daily edition of ‘AM to PM’ so fight fans around the world can catch up with any news they may have missed.

Sometimes it is hard when you have a busy day to keep up to date with what is going on in the boxing world, so we will highlight the main stories from around the world for you to have a browse and keep up to date.

Read on for today’s most notable headlines.

PRIZEFIGHTER – THE LIGHTWEIGHTS
The second edition of lightweights in the Prizefighter format has been announced for October 6th. It promises to be one of the most exciting tournaments yet with two former British champions included and, of course, exciting prospects looking to make their mark in the sport. Five fighters have already been announced for the 8 man tournament. They are: Derry Matthews (who has opted for competing in Prizefighter rather than fighting Mzonke Fana in South Africa), Gary Sykes, Stephen Jennings, Terry Needham and Liam Patrick Walsh.

ROCKY FIELDING GETS FIRST TITLE SHOT
Rocky Fielding, winner of the super-middleweight Prizefighter, will fight for his first title in the sport on the same bill as Prizefighter – The Lightweights in Liverpool. Fielding, 24, takes on Wayne Reed, also 24, for the Central Area super-middleweight title. Reed is the defending champion after winning the belt on July 20th with a fifth round stoppage against Alistair Warren.

MALIGNAGGI IN TALKS WITH CANO
WBA world welterweight champion, Paulie Malignaggi hopes to announce his next opponent in the coming days. Malignaggi had been linked with fighting Ricky Hatton if he decided to come out of retirement, but that seems unlikely. Instead, it would appear Pablo Cesar Cano – the interim WBA world light-welterweight title holder – could get the nod.

LUCIAN BUTE RETURNS IN NOVEMBER
It was announced last night that former IBF world super-middleweight champion, Lucian Bute will return to the ring on November 3rd in Montreal. Bute will take on Denis Grachev and the undefeated Russian-born fighter will be putting his NABF light-heavyweight title on the line. Grachev, who stopped highly rated prospect Ismayl Sillakh earlier this year, will most likely be Bute’s “warm-up fight” ahead of his rematch against Carl Froch next year.

GAVIN REES TO FIGHT RICHARD ABRIL
According to Boxingscene.com, Richard Abril has confirmed that his next fight will be in the UK, against former world light-welterweight champion, Gavin Rees. It seems the date of the fight is dependant on which dates Sky Sports are available to broadcast it, but word is that it will be in late September or early October.

GOLOVKIN V PROKSA ANNOUNCED
Current WBA world middleweight champion, Gennady Golovkin will fight current EBU champ, Grzegorz Proksa at the Turning Stone Casino in New York. Golovkin was previously set to fight unbeaten titlist Dmitry Pirog until Pirog pulled out with an injury. However, should Golovkin emerge victorious over Proksa then it is likely the Pirog fight will be next in line for the big-punching middleweight.

DEGALE FREE TO PURSUE NEW PROMOTIONAL DEAL
James DeGale is now free to pursue a new promotional deal. However, because he is contracted to Frank Warren until April 2013,  DeGale will have to pay Warren 25% of his purses if he fights under a new promotional company. It will surely be a breath of fresh air for the current EBU super-middleweight champion as it will now enable him to get himself more active after having only one fight so far in 2012.
