The hot topic in the boxing world over the past six days has been the career of Amir Khan. After hearing good news that he was reinstated as WBA light welterweight champion ahead of his fight with Danny Garcia, Khan went on to lose the bout by knockout. Since then questions have been raised about a number of issues, most notably the relationship between Freddie Roach and Amir Khan. The departure of Alex Ariza from the Khan camp was well documented, but now questions are being asked around the boxing world whether Freddie Roach is the right man to take Amir Khan’s career forward.
Unquestionably Freddie Roach is one of the best trainers to ever grace the sport but like every fighter, player, and team, a coach also has his weaknesses. A number of names has been banded around for the role if Amir and Freddie do go their separate ways, with Roger Mayweather being the most talked about name.
