The Bomber Tony Bellew was victorious in his toughest test to date, stopping experienced campaigner Edison Miranda in the 9th round earlier today at Alexandra Palace in Matchroom Sport’s “London Calling” event. Relive the action in FightHype’s round-by-round report.
Round 1
Good opening round from Tony Bellew. Both fighters cautious and very aware of each others power. Bellew tries to get the jab going with Miranda really stalking him around the ring.

Miranda catches Bellew with an overhand right midway through the round and stalks the British champion around the ring. Bellew holds on and fires back with a couple of cuffing shots.

Bellew works jab well throughout the round but Miranda tries to catch the judges eye with a real increase in work rate in the last thirty seconds.

Complete Bellew round. Really struck Miranda with the jab at every opportunity throughout the round. Miranda only lands one cuffing right, Miranda looks lazy. Bellew catches “Pantera” with a flashy combination on the bell.

Miranda getting frustrated with Bellew jab tries to rile the Bomber with some billygoating on the inside. Miranda rises early from stool again, Bellew looks disheartened coming out for round 6.

Miranda success comes when he backs Bellew up. Crowd becoming a little quiet as Miranda continues to walk Bellew down. Bellew fires with a good right and left counterpunch best of the whole fight for the Liverpool man. Bellew moving in and delivering shots. Better round for the
Bomber.

Miranda starts the seventh with renewed vigour. Bellew starting to put spite into punches and plant his feet. Bellew jab starting to now back Miranda up, he must keep up work rate as Miranda swings wildy. Miranda throwing wild bombs, backed up on the ropes by Bellew. Bellew suddenly backs off and leaves Miranda dancing in his own corner. Bellew corner tear into him telling him to stop “arseing around”.

Miranda looking weaker now. Bellew still pawing out the jab. Pantera still throws the right and left hook with spite but with no precision. Bellew doubles up jab and follows with uppercut appearing to stun Miranda. Miranda backs up Bellew, the Liverpool man ducks under right hook and follows with left hook and straight right hand to rapturous applause from crowd.

Miranda corner buy their man some time as pool of water cleaned from their corner takes over a minute.
Bellew spins out the corner hits Miranda with a straight right and body punch and the veteran sags. The Brit now stalks Miranda around the ring and connects with terrific right left combination in neutral corner. Bellew now prising Miranda apart. Miranda takes a knee from body punch. Ian Jon Lewis asks Miranda if he wants to carry on, he shakes his head to say no.
Tony Bellew sinks to his knees with a roar from the crowd, arms held aloft in the centre of the ring.

IN OTHER ACTION
Birmingham’s Kal Yafai records a first round victory in his second professional fight and Martin J Ward recorded a points victory. John Ryder was impressive with a 2nd round knockout victory. Erik Ochieng impressive in a 5th round victory over Ryan Toms dropping him twice in the 5th before the referee stepped in. British welterweight Lee Purdy looked impressive in around 4 knock out victory over Gumersindo Lucas Carrasco dropping him three times on route to victory. In the upset of the evening Danny Connor upset Chris Evangelou in a very entertaining 10 round clash. Connor took a shock 98-94 points decision despite almost everybody of the opinion that Evangelou was the worthy winner.
