The MEN Arena, Manchester was the location, Saturday 24th November was the date and Vyacheslav Senchenko was the opponent on what was supposed to be the triumphent ring return of Ricky “Hitman” Hatton, however the dream of a successful return in front of his home fans turned into a nightmare as Senchenko knocked The Hitman out in the 9th round.  The fans were stunned as Hatton fell to his knees from a viscous body shot by the Ukranian who joined the 28,000 fans in watching on very closely as the proud Hitman could not answer the referees count and was counted out to and him his third career knockout defeat.  All hopes of a successful night leading to a world title shot against Paulie Malinaggi have surely been dashed now as a very emotional and tearful Hatton spoke after the fight regarding his future indicating that he will be making a long hard thought decision about his future.
